Announcer: The Central hospital recently treated an ALS patient and had promising results. Let’s check in with our reporter. Reporter: Ms Shao, who lives in Nanjing, was diagnosed with ALS two years ago. Her legs became paralyzed and she couldn’t do daily activities by herself. She saw doctors in various hospitals, but no one could help. Experts say that ALS is a tragic disease. The patient goes through an irreversible period of losing strength in the muscles called amyotrophia. Followed by paralysis and have difficulty in breathing. Finally, they will die. Ms Shao made a lot of enquiries and finally learned that the Hospital attached to Zheng Zhou Medical University is the main hospital doing research on ALS. She came to Xinmi accompanied by her family. She decided she would like to have stem cells injections. After careful consultation, Ms Shao was operated on in the central hospital. Several experts work together for the injections. One week after the operation, Ms Shao not only stood up again, but also she could walk without support. Doctor: After the operation, the patient’s muscle strength increased. She was able to speak more clearly. She went from not being able to stand up to being able to walk without support. This shows that stem cell injections are a good way to treat nervous system diseases. In the future, I believe stem cell injections will play an important role in treating nervous system diseases.
