Stem Cell Therapy International, Inc., (OTC: SCII) a company in the field of research and development of stem cell transplantation therapy and regenerative medicine, today appointed Weiwen Deng, M.D., Ph.D., a distinguished researcher in the field of stem cell therapy to its Medical and Scientific Advisory Board.

Dr. Deng has conducted important research in the use of stem cells to treat cardiovascular diseases, erectile dysfunction and pulmonary hypertension. He holds an M.D. from Shanghai Medical University, Shanghai, P.R. China, and a Ph.D. in molecular and cellular biology from Tulane University. He also holds a Master's Degree in microbiology and immunology from Shanghai Medical University.

Calvin Cao, chairman and chief executive officer of Stem Cell Therapy International, said, "Weiwen Deng's expertise in stem cell therapy will help SCTI make the right strategic decisions. He has the vision of a well-trained and experienced clinician/scientist who knows the correct direction for a stem cell company so that no time, energy, or money will be wasted and more scientific discoveries and money can be made.

"Moreover, as a native speaker of Chinese with extensive relationships with the scientific community in China that specializes in stem cell therapy," Cao added, "he will help us to open the Chinese market for SCTI's stem cell products."

Dr. Weiwen Deng is currently a Research Instructor in the Department of Pharmacology of the School of Medicine of Tulane University. There is a patent pending for his methods for isolating adult nervous system stem cells and treating a human patient having a disease, condition, or disorder of the central nervous system with adult stem cells.

Dr. Weiwen Deng said, "I am pleased to join SCTI's Medical and Scientific Advisory Board. As a result of my research, I believe that stem cell therapies can help in the treatment of many neurological and cardiac conditions."

Stem cell transplantation therapy is a field of medicine, which uses techniques and technologies that rely on replacing diseased, damaged or dysfunctional cells with healthy, functioning ones. This therapy is similar to the process of organ transplantation, only the treatment consists of the transplantation of stem cells into the body rather than entire organs, thus eliminating any chance of rejection or the need for expensive and potentially dangerous immunosuppression drug therapy. These new techniques are being applied to finding a cure for a wide range of human disorders, including neurological diseases such as Alzheimer's, Parkinson's Disease, ALS, (which is also commonly known as Lou Gehrig's disease), leukemia, muscular dystrophy, multiple sclerosis, arthritis, spinal cord injuries, brain injury, stroke, heart disease, liver and retinal disease, diabetes as well as certain types of cancer and can be used to alleviate the side effects of chemotherapy.
