P A T I E N T  E X P E R I E N C E –  S P I N A L  C O R D  I N J U R Y

NAME: Ben

AGE: 26

COUNTRY: Australia

DIAGNOSIS: Spinal cord injury, T10 complete

REASON FOR COMING TO TREATMENT:
Three years ago, while Ben was out in the country side riding motorbikes with his friends his bike suddenly hit a rock hidden in the grass, and Ben was thrown off. After waking up, he found his friends circled around him looking concerned and he quickly realized that he was unable to move his legs. He started to slip in and out of consciousness and was eventually taken by helicopter to a hospital. At the hospital they told him that he had suffered a spinal injury and also had a mild brain injury. He was paralyzed from the belly button down and the doctors told him he would never walk again. This news disheartened the young man, but in the end it also motivated him to live life to the fullest and learn as much as possible from his experience. While seeking out many different treatment methods, he learned about stem cell treatments in China. After extensive investigation he decided that this was the best treatment option available and made plans to go to China with his good friend Paul, who also has a spinal cord injury.

WEBB CITY, Mo. -- Parents by the hundreds are traveling halfway around the world these days in pursuit of a new cutting edge medical treatment for their children. They're not coming to the United States, though. Many of them from the Ozarks are headed to China, looking for a modern-day miracle.
"Honestly, China's one of the countries I probably know the least about,” said Dawn Barlett of Webb City.

Most of us would never think of China as a world leader in medical care.

"They assured me it was clean,” said Barlett. “I don't want dirty needles.”

P A T I E N T  E X P E R I E N C E - A U T I S M

NAME: Maria

AGE: 5

COUNTRY: Romania

DIAGNOSIS: Autism

REASON FOR COMING TO TREATMENT: Maria’s mother Gabriela first noticed that her daughter was developmentally delayed when she was six months old. After continuing to miss the normal developmental milestones, she was finally diagnosed with a brain injury complicated by Autism at the age of one year and three months. Her mother continued to take Maria to the hospital every year for check ups, and she received regular physical therapy. At 2 years old she was giving an orthopedic boots to assist in her walking. Despite slight improvements, Gabriela failed to discover any treatments that could help Maria’s main deficiencies in communication and learning. After discovering stem cell treatments in China from other families in her country, she determined that it was this therapy that would be the best course of action for her daughter.

TREATMENT: Umbilical Cord Stem Cell Transplants, Cord Serum and Nerve Growth Factor combined with Rehabilitation Therapy.
