Medical History

"Back in 2001, my first signs that I needed medical examination were after an episode of vertigo, nausea, dizziness and vomiting, which continued for 3 weeks. After going to the doctor and doing deeper and deeper investigations, only the MRI found a single demyelinating lesion in the brain. After eliminating other demyelinating diseases my doctor told me it was most likely Multiple Sclerosis. I was laughing about that, not believing it was truly happening."

"After 2 years in which I did not "give a chance" to the disease, My walking became  impaired. I went to the doctor again, and now the MRI showed multiple lesions, including spinal ones. I was given a diagnosis of Multiple Sclerosis, Secondary Progressive, as I did not have clear relapsing-remitting periods."

"It was recommended that I take interferon in 2001, but I did not want to hear about it. Still, in 2005 I tried it for about 15 months, with no special benefits. But it had a big side effect, it gave me depression and  the feeling of being dependent."

"Luckily that year my sister helped me by showing a possible natural way of treatment, vegetarian food and Yoga. In 2006 I quit my job for 6 months, and did lot of Yoga practice and meditations, which I have continued at a lower rate since then. 2006 was a successful year,  I gave up using interferons and I stopped using the walking stick I had started using in 2005! I became independent."

Reason for Coming for Treatment

"I came back to my family and worked part time in 2007. But slightly after 2007 my status deteriorated gradually. In November 2008 I started using the walking stick again. In  2008 I caught the flu and it left me with less strength than before. In few months I started to want something to help me again have a decent life.

"In March 2009, my wife saw an ad from a person fundraising for MS treatment. She got in touch with a lady suffering from MS who came to Qingdao, China for stem cell treatment and now feels better. We took a deeper look at stem cell treatment--which we had not taken seriously before--but decided it was a good option.

Treatment in China

"And there we were, in June 2009, arriving at the Beike clinic, Chengyang People's Hospital, Qingdao! We stayed there for 6 weeks, receiving stem cell treatment (6 umbilical cord stem cell injections and 2 autologous bone marrow stem cells for a total of 8 injections). Everyday I had acupuncture, kinetic therapy and electrical wave therapy.

"It was a Pleasant stay. To all the doctors, nurses, therapists are extremely kind and attentive! Dr Tony and Dr Apple, therapist Owen, also interpreters Amanda, Wendy, Jack, Rebecca, and all the others, I miss you all!

Condition While in China

"How amazed I was to discover, injection after injection, I had nice improvements! After the first injection I was able to walk alone, doing a tour of the therapy room, assisted by the therapist! It was like a “demo” that improvements are possible!

"Improvements in my urinating: Easier to start, and better when stopping (collecting the remaining drops with toilet paper, I noticed a big difference in number/quantity of drops I had to collect). This improvement has been consistent. There are periods were it is better, others were it is worse, but still better than before coming to China.

"But not all days were as full of improvements. I soon noticed I can run out of resources doing more than I did before, more exercises or more walking. I always push my limits, but I had to re-learn my new, larger limits!

"Together with my wife Florina and sometimes other patients/families from the clinic, we did also several trips during our stay: we visited a Buddhist temple, a Taoist temple, we rode the chair-lifts up to the top of Laoshan mountain near the sea. We went to several traditional or new Chinese restaurants.

"After the injections--because 7 of them were by lumbar puncture administered inside the cerebrospinal fluid--I usually had the day after a feeling like I was "not in the mood." But a day after, I felt like a new born. How nice a sensation to feel strength again in your body and to have a better, safer walk! Better and better!

"After a few weeks, I stopped using the walking sticks inside the clinic, even though the distances I walked were considerable. This also inspired other patients, many told me 'you are an inspiration to us'.

"I also discovered good Chinese food, served by a catering service in the clinic. My favorites were seaweed soup and rice with vegetables (vegetables are boiled a little bit and maintain their freshness and the “crunchy” sound when chewed).

"To sum up, I got good improvements - in urine function, balance and muscle strength. l using the walking stick, but am able to walk longer/better during outside walks.

Condition After Returning Home

"Back in Romania, I am still doing my 'daily program' with yoga, daily walks, electrical wave therapy with a device bought in China, and work with a kinetic therapist two times per week one hour a day. We have noticed improvements in balance, muscle strength and I am able to do movements I was not able to do one month ago or while in China. I still use the walking stick for outside walks. But I am stronger and stronger, and confident I'm seeing new improvements. The stem cells continue the recovery effect up to eight months after administration.

"I can say I have a good, decent life, surrounded with the love of my family, my daughter Maria (5 years), my wife Florina, my sister Claudia and her boyfriend Octavian and my parents. A good, positive attitude is 50% of the healing process. Another 50% is added by stem cell treatment and the other great therapies here in China. The whole 100% is done only by God!

"We cannot add the parts, only God does it all the time!"
